IMPORTANCE OF STUDENT BODIES :
Student bodies serve as the backbone of a vibrant school community, embodying the voice, spirit, and aspirations of the student body. Their importance lies in their role as advocates, leaders, and catalysts for positive change within the school environment. By providing a platform for student representation, they ensure that student voices are heard and respected, fostering a sense of ownership and empowerment among the student population. Through their activities and initiatives, student bodies promote community building, leadership development, and engagement in extracurricular activities, enriching the educational experience beyond the confines of the classroom. Moreover, they play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and civic responsibility, instilling in students the values of democracy, collaboration, and active citizenship. In essence, student bodies are not just organizations; they are engines of student empowerment, fostering a dynamic and enriching school culture where every student has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to the collective success of the community.
STUDENT BODIES AT BPS :
In order to provide students with ample opportunities for their character building and experiencing the challenges in leadership roles, we at Balaji Public School has inculcated various positions of power for students. There are different kinds of student bodies present at school which are run by students themselves. These student bodies are mainly working for mass student welfare. Student Council, House captains and Vice Captains, Club board members comprise over forty positions for the students.
STUDENT COUNCIL :
The functioning of a student council within a school is akin to a microcosm of democratic governance, where elected representatives serve as the voice and advocates for the student body. The student council typically comprises students elected by their peers to various positions, such as School Captain, Vice captain, and Treasurer. These representatives work collaboratively to address student concerns, plan events and initiatives, and liaise with school administration to effect positive change. The council operates through regular meetings, where members discuss issues, propose solutions, and make decisions through a democratic voting process. Additionally, they often solicit feedback from their fellow students through surveys, forums, or informal conversations to ensure that their actions reflect the broader student sentiment. Through their efforts, the student council plays a crucial role in promoting student engagement, fostering a sense of community, and advocating for the collective interests of the student body within the school environment.
Positions in Student Council are :
School Captain
School Vice captain
School Treasure
Student Council is elected by first giving out their nomination forms. Then the first stage of their personal interviews are initiated whereby they go through vigorous questioning related to their past performance as a student, their vision and their zeal and effort. Interviews are taken by 'Associate Director Management'. Then shortlisted students from interviews start campaigning for elections, which are held at a later date. In election, students of class 6th to 12th vote for their preferable candidate. Upon counting of the votes, School Captain, Vice Captain and Treasurer are elected.
HOUSE CAPTAINS AND VICE CAPTAINS :
Balaji Public School has total four houses in which all the students are divided. These houses go head to head with each other all year long fighting to be the best house of the rest in school. For proper functioning of these houses, House Captains and vice captains are appointed for one academic session. The main function of Captains and Vice captains is to motivate their house members, give equal opportunity to all and prepare the best possible team of their house for every competition held at the school. House captain is the head of the house and vice captain is always there is support him/her using their experience. A teacher advisor is also allotted to each house which makes sure that the students appointed in the position of leadership are doing their job to the best of their abilities.
Process of Selection :
The process of selection of a House captain and Vice captain involves rigorous interviewing process for which each interested student of class 11th files for his nomination. Only the students who fulfill the pre defined criteria can fill for nominations. Upon filing, the student goes through interviewing process in front of panel which involves Associate Director Management, Teacher Advisor and House captains of last year. Upon completion of the interview, the panel selects the best possible candidate for each position.
